Kairu rigby frowned to herself. Her freckles seemed to hiss at the glob of pink on the counter. Kairu rolled her bright emerald eyes and continued brushing dye onto her fringe. The counter had seen better days- it was small, wooden, and dark blue, not unlike the door, which hung open. Kairu wore an oversized gray tee and jean shorts, appropriate for the hot summer weather. As she continued to brush on pink, she heard a tap on the door frame.
Sophiana grinned "Hey have you seen the outside? It is a bloody wreck." She shut the door and looked at the counter "Either you are dying your hair or you killed a unicorn." She snorted and covered her mouth. She had high waisted dark washed jean shorts and a black one shoulder tank. Her bare arms showed two half sleeves of tattoos. Her hands covered in rings and bangle bracelets. "Ugh I swear I would kill from some lemonade. Do you have any?"
Kairu shrugged. "What about it?" She finished folding the last foil and took off her gloves, laying them iun the sink. "We have some." Kairu smiled at Soph. Her red pumps clicked on the wood floor as she lead her friend to the kitchen.
Sophiana nodded at the foils "Pink, I like it. I have a thing for pink-heads. I dared Charlie to once but you know him. He refused. Also, I hope your lemonade is pink. Like your head." Her shoes were black, suede pumps, with a thin ankle strap. "Nice shoes, Kairu."
Kairu grinned. "Why, thank you." She walked across the kitchen to the cabinet and pulled out two small plates. "I made cake!" She called over her shoulder. Kairu sliced two triangles of red velvet cake and sat down at her bar. "Smith is so lazy. His white keeps getting shorter and shorter and he won't sit down long enough for me to dye it." She said over her cake.
Sophiana went into the fridge and grabbed a pitcher of pink lemonade. She poured the magic pink elixr into two wine glasses. She ate a bite of the cake "Kairu- marry me." she laughed at her own joke "Charlie's hair is gorgeous. Though he wouldn't let dye it if my life was on the line. Do it in Smith's sleep, he sleeps like the dead. OH!" She grabbed her military green duffel bag "I have something to show you." She flipped through a worn hardback yellow sketch book "Here." Her pink holographic glitter nail pointed at an gold owl. "I am thinking of getting that as a tattoo on my calf.
A loud noise came from Kairu's front hall and a string of curses followed. Hazel found her way into Kairu's kitchen, where she heard Sophiana and Kairu talking. "Hello lovelies. I'm so sorry. I ****ing tripped in your front doorway." She bent down and became occupied with brushing bits of dirt and sediment off her distressed denim shorts and oversize white v-neck tee, and fixing the laces on her velvet Docs. She stood up, quickly patted the back of her disheveled curls and straightened her necklace. "Is that pink lemonade? Ohhhhhhh summer is the best. How much conversation have I missed?" She walked further into the room, towards Kairu, and lifted one of the foils just enough to peek at her roots. "Going pink? Mmmmmm, I like it!"
"Yup. I needed a change." Kairu got up and hugged her friend. "Help yourself to the cake and lemonade, if you want." She sat back down and adjusted her processing cap. "I think you should get it. No, I think you need to get it." Kairu adressed Sophiana's tattoo, grinning. "You and your owls..."
Hazel accepted her hugs and then got busy pouring herself a glass of lemonade and slicing a piece of cake. THen, prepared, she looked over at sophiana's sketchbook. "A gold owl? Gurl, that is lovely. DO ITTTT. It will look amazing... Plus i know you love owls so i don't see why the bloody hell not." She smiled and took a sip of lemonade.
Kairu sighed. "I want a tattoo, but I don't know what to get..." She started drawing on her wrist with a random pen that was sitting on the counter. "Like this? Maybe?" She lifted her wrist, where she had drawn a bow on it.
"You would work a wrist tattoo!" She leaned on her hand "And bows are classy." She put her arms in front of her "I like tattoos because it is a sorry on your arms. You can tell a lot by a person by what they have." She looked at the lemonade and turned her arm "I mean I have a lemon right here. They are so bitter and sweet when you give them a chance. Like people. I want an owl for obvious reasons. The back of my calf because I like the two half sleeves. They match. Plus you shouldn't have to reminded to be wise" She took a huge bite of cake. And chewed while mulling over her words.
"Kairu, that is perfect for you, If I do say so...It's so classy. And cute!" She sipped her lemonade some more and contemplated what sophiana was saying. "It's true... you really can tell a lot from someone's tattoos, if you know how to detect the symbolism... unless the tattoo has barely any meaning. Like, some swirly looking tramp stamp. That probably just means you're a tramp with a tattoo. But otherwise, it really is a beautiful thing."
Kairu nodded in agreement. "I want a bow. Bows tie things together. They mend, in a way. And my wrist would be the perfect placement- a pulse point, and also a source of much negativity. A bow would be like my present tieing up my past, like saying that my ****ed-up-little self is my own gift to the universe. Plus, they're adorable." She grinned and sipped her lemonade. "I think my hair is done..." She glanced up at the processing cap. "I just want a tint, so it takes less time."
Sophiana nodded "You should go to my lady. She is a GENIUS." She finshed her cake and put down the fork with a clang. "Lets' go finish your hair!" She got up and brushed off her shorts.
"Kairu, that is really lovely!" Hazel said, remembering some of Kairu's past afflictions. She flung her arms around her friend, nearly spilling her lemonade in the process. "All this talk makes me want a tattoo, although i could never decide what to get or where to put it..." She trailed off. "But first it's hair time. So how much of a tint will it be?" She asked, following them to the bathroom.
"It'll be like rose tea with milk in it, I think." Kairu said and flipped her head into her tub. She turned on the water and began rinsing it. When she was done, she grabbed a towel and dried her hair a bit. When she flipped her hair back up, it was a light cotton candy pink. "Nifty!" Kairu said, assessing the color in the mirror.
Sophiana clicked her tounge in approval "GOOD SHOW." She flipped her blue hair around "I am way too attatched to blue. Navy blue, aqua, turquoise, all the shades." She crosed her arms "That is going to look awesome curled."
