Glinda paced in front of her apartment building. She caught her reflection and groaned. She stepped to see herself better. She pulled on her blue cardigan, and straighted her rose skirt. It was white with huge red roses. Her long legs had maroon tights and black suede platform pumps. She had a grey wool beanie over her creamsicle hair, which was in a loose side ponytail. She tapped her legs wishing he would come sooner so she could stop feeling like a lovesick crackhead. She turned to see Conor smiling "Hey." He murmerred. Glinda ran into him and hugged him for a good two minutes. "Oh my, you came." She dropped her arms and swayed, waiting for a response.
Conor smiled at Glinda. He blushed behind his navy silk scarf. He wore a grey v-neck tee shirt, black jeans, and navy converse. His dark brown hair was slightly windswept. "So..." His light green eyes looked at the ground. "Wanna go get uhh, coffee?" He looked at her quizically. He didn't like coffee himself, but he knew Glinda might want some.
Glinda smiled "Oh that definatly sounds like a lot of fun." She looked expecantly at Conors hand. She bit her lip and grabbed it "Let's go!" She walked slowly at first wondering what old sweethearts did on dates. She didn't go on many dates with her ex. She looked at the recently set sun and stepped a little closer.
As Glinds grabbed conor's hand, he blushed deeper beneath his freckles. He cursed his genetics as he walked down the street. Once, as kids, they held hands just like this. Well, minus his heart breating a mile a minute. Glinds looked beautiful as she smiled against the setting sun, her eyes shining forward. 'We're here!' Conor announced as they approached a cafe. It was small, inbetween a bridal shop and a bakery. Underneath the maron awning there was a few tables. "their chai is amazing." He told her as he guided her to chair.
Glinda smiled even harder as she noticed the place he took her was between a dress shop and a bakery. Conor's face was blushed red and the thought he was nervous about meeting her again which made her nervous since he was excited to be here. Glinda looked at the menu as a coffee shop kid she knew what to order "A toffee nut latte, please." She looked over her shoulder and whispered something in the coffeemans ear. He looked quizically and she smiled over her shoulder and hopped to the end of the counter. She sat on chair Conor had pulled out for her and blushed a little thinking of chiverly.
Conor sat down, toying with his scarf. "So... how have you been?' He asked. "Did you sleep well?" It was the best he could think of. He looked at Glinda with her cardigan and flowy hair and remembered how lucky he was, He ran his hand through his dark hair, waiting for her response.
"So what are you drinking? I think you mentioned Tea earlier?" She grinned "I can't wait any longer look on the side of your cup." Conor tipped his cup to see a message written under the order- "HEY CONOR YOU'RE REALLY GREAT LIKE THIS BEVERAGE :D" She clapped "Yay, I am glad you like it!" SHhe flipped her hair back and shrugged to anwser the question "I slept okay I guess, I have a cheap mattress." She placed her hands in her lap and turned "Did you sleep well?" She raised her eyebrows "Hm hmhm?" She snorted and drank her coffee in embarasment.
Conor looked under the cup and smiles at what it said. 'That's the sweetest!' He laughed. 'And who said I slept?' He said in a silly voice, taking a dramatic sip from his tea. 'It's the chai.' He answered like a puppy, looking up for approval.
"So your saying you wouldn't sleep with me? OHHH." She snorted again and cursed "I must sonud like a damn pig. Chai tea is good though I am a coffee person. If it is served at a coffee shop, I have had it." She leaned across the table and grabbed his scarf he continuted to fiddle with. She slowly pulled it toward her and kissed him "HA! I win. I kissed you first."
Conor blushed, fixing his hair in embarassment. 'You are so cute...' He mumbled, thinking aloud. His freckles danced as he laughed. 'Your snoting is adorable! Like, a cute little piglet or something.' He blew on his tea and lifted it to Glindas lips, letting her take a sip. 'Do you like it?' He asked.
She thought for a second "That is really good actually, I don't normally go for tea. I actually really like piglets they remind me of, well myself, ya know loud but kind of cute." She adjusted her cardigan again. " I think if I were to get a pet it would be a pig." She blushed "I mean thanks for the comment and all." She looked out the window at the sky it was a nice shade of twilight blue.
"Okay we'll name him Barakat and we can have joint custody of him." She played along "Do you want to get out of here? We could do something else fun?" She bit her lip hoping not to get shot down.
Conor looked at Glinda, then checked to see if anyone was watching. He put his index over his lips, his eyes glinting with mischief. 'Oh my gosh, Honey, it's ted!' He yelled in a deep, mature voice that did not belong to him. He pointed outside to no one in particular, faking the prefect oh-my-gosh-it's-you-you-look-so-different/high-school-reunion face. He winked at glinda, smiled, and motioned for the door.
And with that, Conor grabbed Glinda's hand. He ran out of the door leaving their bill behind. 'TED! HEY, TED!' They ran down the street laughing. 'So,' conor said inbetween heavy breaths, 'Wanna go get that pig?'
Glinda put on her hands on her knees trying to talk between laughs and heavy breaths "Wait, what? I thought you were kidding?" She looked at his exicted yet serious face. One look and she knew the anwser "Yeah sure okay!" She grinned and grabbed his hand "Where in the world do you get a pig?"
Conor stood strait up. 'Well, my dear, let's go look!' He sat on the sidewalk, pulling a phonebook from hammerspace. He flipped though it until he found what he was looking for... 'Exotic pets! Two blocks away!' He frowned seriously. 'Are you up for the challenge?' He looked up at glinda's Silhouette. The sun was setting, and clouds were rolling in.
Glinda bit her lip and hopped "I am. I am." She grabbed his scarf again and kissed him again. "ONWARD WE GO." She held his hand and they wandered down the streets they pointed at things and kicked a can. Glinda stopped in front of a store with a black oning with gold script "EXOTIC PETS" "Well I think we are lost this is obviously we are at a book store." She snorted again at her own joke.
Conor blkushed again, then lawled. 'Let's go!' They entered the store as the last bits of daylight were fading to black. The store was small. It was cluttered with rows of caged, with animals ranging from rabbits to eels. Tapestries lined the walls, and insence floated in the air. Conor waved some from his face. Suddenly, a voice from behind him asked, 'How may I help you?' A young indian woman with a deep red pixie-cut tapped him on the shoulder. Conor jumped, jolting around a cage of rabbits. They bounced and twitched in surprise. 'Yes, we're, uhh, looking for a pig.' He said nervously. The woman studied the couple. 'I'm Suzette.' She held out her hand.
Glinda stuck her hand out "Hey I am Glinda! We want a piglet." She smiled and squeezed Conor's hand. "We're getting a pig," Glinda poked her finger in the cage and then pulled it out trying not to look suspicous "Do you have any?"
Suzette nodded. 'I've got a few in the back...' She lead them around a twisty corner to a large cage. It was lined with hay, and in it lay three sleeping piglets. One of them, apparentoy not so asleep, poked it little head up. It was a soft grey, with whiskey hairs and what looked like a soft belly. Conor leaned down and smiled at it. 'This one is cute!' He said.
Glinda squatted near the cage and cooed at the pig one, "Can I pick it up?" Suzette nodded and Glinda picked it up. It squealed for dear life as she picked it up and then cuddled it the oinking started to quiet "Shhhh little baby. Hush darling." Her eye softened and she kissed its head. She turned around to show Conor "Babe, are you thinking she's cute?" She rubbed its tummy with her finger and sighed "It's not a Barakat though, what do you think?"
Glinda smiled "Little Elphie. She is perfect, I honestly think we should get her." She looked at Conor suspiciously "Are you sure you want a child- I mean do you think my pelvis is ready for it. Oh wait this is the time to get a pig, what do you think on getting a pig right now?"
Conor laughed, hugging Glinda and Elphie. 'I think it's a wonderful idea.' He turned to Suzette. 'We'll take her.' Suzette lead them to the counter, where they bought all of the nessicary supplies. Next thing they knew, they were walking hom with Elphie on a leash, holding hands. Conor loved strolling down the cool street in the middle of summer, being with Glinda under the stars. Moments drifted away like petals floating in a stream. It wasn't long until they were between their appartments. Conor looked at the gound. 'Soo, do you want the first turn with Elphie?' He looked at her innocently, slightly raising his thick brows.
"Well what about a sleepover? We can set up her pen, and then we can feed her and stuff." She looked innocently back "You know for Elphie." She kicked the ground nervously. "I mean no pressure." Elphie sniffed the ground and Glinda smiledn at her it was cool now she had a pig with her new date. Elphie had a harness on which Glinda was holding with one hand and Conor had a crate filled with supplies which he was holding. "We live two floors away, it's no big deal if you want to go home after we get her setteled."
Conor blushed, again. He was one of those people, the people with freckles who flush easily. He tried to hide behind his hair. 'That, uhh, actually sounds great.' He grinned. "I have some movies I can bring? What do you feel like watching?' He knelt down to pick up Elphie. She let out a horrible screaming sound, and conor put her down immediatly. 'GOSH.' He panted, scarred to death. 'You would have thought I broke her leg!' He looked up at Glinda, who was now holding the pig. He laughed in emberassment.
Glinda shruggred her shoulders "I mean I can watch anything you want to." She patted Elphie's back and calmed her down. "We should head up the stairs now." She clicked the up button on the elevator and it creaked down to the main floor, they stepped inside and she grinned "So I know that pigs need to go outside most the time so we can put the crate in the apt and then put a pen in the outside in the backyard. The elevator dinged and Glinda pulled a key out of her pocket, she turned the creaky lock and then the door opened to see her apartment.
