(Okay, the back story is that Den, Sirius' dad, has a long-lost brother named Benji. This is how/why he left. Maria is their sister.)
"Mum passed away this morning..."Den solemnly informed he younger siblings. "Dad's sorting some stuff out right now." Benji hated to admit it, even to himself, but he couldn't say the news came as a surprise. Ever since his mother, Laura, had had her riding accident, the possibility of her death had haunted all of their deepest darkest thoughts,in the back of their minds, where they hardly acknowledged it. But it had been there. None of them really knew what to do. The funeral was held that Friday, and over the next few weeks, none of them could quite figure out how to deal with their grief. Stephen, his father, spent more time at work than ever, and was hardly ever home. Den spent less time with his friends and more outside with their horses. Maria immersed herself in her last semester at Hogwarts. Benji became restless, not sure what to do with himself. He would have preferred to spend time with his family, but they had other ideas. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. So he made a decision. He was going to leave. Get out and away, as far as possible. Having decided on his course of action, he collected all of his savings, and found that when he combined the money from under his mattress, his sock drawer, and the piggy bank he'd had since he was 8, he had several hundred dollars and some odd change. Benji then got his suitcase and packed it with his favorite clothes, his wand, some photos, his money, food, and some of his favorite stuff. As he was finishing up, there was a knock at his bedroom door. He cursed under his breath,"What?" "Benji, you've been in her all day, what are you doing?" Den asked, coming in. "I'm leaving." Benji said, grabbing his suitcase and pushing past his brother. He left the house and began the short walk into town. Den followed him to the train station, protesting all the way. Benji ignored his pleas. At the train station, he bought the cheapest ticket for as far away as possible. Den finally gave up,seeing that he couldn't change his brothers mind. At this point, even dragging Benji back to the house wouldn't do much good. "You really gonna do this?" Benji nodded. "Well, good luck, man. I love you." Benji nodded again and they shook hands as the train pulled up. "Bye, Den." "Good-bye, Benji." Den said as his brother climbed onto the train and out of his sight. He waited until the train left, hoping Benji would change his mind but knowing he wouldn't, then went home dejectedly. Benjamin Chambers was gone. Maybe forever.
